LONDON — Paul McCartney's 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is expected to fetch $485,000-$615,000 when it crosses the auction block here on October 31.

RM Auctions says the car was ordered by the Beatle prior to his departure for the band's world tour in the summer of 1964.

The car includes a Philips Auto-Mignon record player and a sample of the original upholstery that included musical note-styled patterns in the stitching.

"The owner might wish to re-create the car in its original McCartney livery," noted RM Auctions.

The Aston Martin features Sierra Blue exterior paint and a black leather interior. Other details include
Armstrong Selectaride rear shock absorbers, chrome wire wheels and a Motorola radio.

"Though Sir McCartney also later owned an Aston Martin DB6 that was the subject of a fair amount of media coverage, this lesser known DB5 is actually believed to be the first Aston owned by the musician," said RM Auctions in its digital catalog. "He ordered it at a particularly important career juncture, just weeks after the Beatles' famous Ed Sullivan appearance and their completion of filming A Hard Day's Night."

RM Auctions says McCartney drove the car for six years and even took Roger McGuinn, the guitarist for The Byrds, for a spin in 1965.

Edmunds says: An incredible bit of history that straddles the automotive and rock world.
