TORRANCE, California — The restyled 2013 Acura ZDX starts at $51,815, including an $895 destination charge, reflecting a $4,800 price increase over the outgoing model.

Honda said it will discontinue the ZDX after the 2013 model year.

"Moving forward, we will continue to advance the Acura lineup with a focus on new core models, like the recently redesigned RDX and the upcoming all-new RLX flagship sedan," said Jeff Conrad, Acura's vice president and general manager, in a statement on Wednesday.

Honda sold just 48 ZDXs in September versus 87 in September 2011 and only 642 have been sold in the
U.S. year to date. The ZDX, with a 3.7-liter V6 engine and all-wheel-drive layout, is hampered by dismal fuel economy. The EPA says the 2012 ZDX returns 16 mpg in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway.
The base 2012 Acura ZDX starts at $47,015, including an $895 destination charge.

The 2013 ZDX gets a redesigned front grille, front and rear parking sensors, power folding side mirrors and safety features that include Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

The redesigned ZDX goes on sale on October 19.

Edmunds says: It's the end of the road for Acura's thirsty grocery-getter.
