Trabant Car history

Auto Union AG, whose factories were located in Prussian Saxony which belonged in part to Audi's founder, August Horch, was expropriated during the arrival of the Red Army. By 1948, the Zwickau plant began construction of a car designed by the company before the Second World War, under the model name F8. It formed the basis of the first Trabant 601 (1957) [1].

The Trabant, which was originally a small economic car and became robust, due to lack of innovations that made him a model hopelessly outdated, the symbol of the economic collapse of the GDR.
