MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari is teasing an image of the "new Enzo," sometimes referred to as the Ferrari F70.
The Italian automaker confirmed for Edmunds on Friday that the supercar will not be revealed at the2013 Detroit Auto Show.
A Fiat source told Edmunds in the fall that the Ferrari Enzo successor was scheduled for the upcoming Detroit show. It is uncertain at this point whether the future Ferrari has been delayed at bit. There has been no information about pricing or market launch date on the Enzo successor.
The teaser image of the rear of the new Ferrari is "related to the new Enzo and no, it will not be displayed at Detroit," wrote Stefano Lai, a Ferrari spokesman, in response to a query from Edmunds. The rear end of the Enzo successor is considered to be unusual and intriguing by Ferrari observers.
The Enzo successor is reputed to produce 900 horsepower and is expected to be Ferrari's most powerful road car yet.
The midengine two-seater features an all-new V12 engine whose power — and fuel economy — will be enhanced by a Formula 1-style KERS hybrid system.
The company revealed the new car's carbon-fiber tub at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. It was created using Formula 1 molding techniques that produce a lighter structure than the carbon-fiber manufacturing methods usually used for road cars.
